I do apologize to the very few readers who follow my BMX Racing Career as I have not posted recently.
On July 29th we had yet another typical Tuesday Night Race in which I finished 3rd in. It took all three moto's for me to qualify for the main and needing to beat out Brandon. It seems every week him and I have some close battles going on, a number of them involve him clipping me in some way (unintentionally) which causes him to fall at some point during the night. However that did not happen last week, our races were fast and clean for all three qualifying moto's.
Yesterday our class was lacking a rider, so as a result we had three racers and ran total points, no transfer system here. Essentially "points" are accounted for each rider's finishing position after each race. After three races the "points" are calculated to determine who came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Yesterday I finished 2nd overall because I crossed the line in 2nd, 2nd, and 3rd for the three races beating Brandon the first two races, and Simon taking 1st for all three.
Brandon and I had another "incident" last night during our second race. Simon had the lead going into the first corner, I was right behind him using the same line. Simon started to slow down while Brandon took the inside and caught us mid corner. I pushed forward and tried to go on the inside of Simon, putting me right between Brandon and Simon while all three of us go over the single jump in that corner. Brandon hit some sand and went down, while doing so he fell into me hitting my leg and my back tire, somehow I stayed up and only lost a little bit of speed.
The great thing about racing against Brandon is that it appears him and I are evenly matched. On any given week one of us can beat the other, so we are constantly pushing one another.
Oh, and for the reference of "Dropping like flies" for the title, I say that because I have fallen down to 14th in the District Standings as calculated by the ABA. The nice thing though is that these standings are a few weeks behind, yet it now includes all of the races where I either failed to make the main or that I missed due to vacation.
I am also trying to organize a trip for a few riders and myself to travel down to Clarks Summit, Pensylvania for some racing there, just so that we can experience differen tracks and riders. Things are not coming together as quickly as I anticpated due to people failing to get back to me to confirm if they are joining us or not. So right now as it stands there is myself, Marty and his daughter Sarah who will be racing for sure, Marty's wife and son will be coming as well but not racing. Simon is hoping to come provided he can get the time off work, so we have 3 maybe 4 riders confirmed, there are a few others who still need to get back to me.
Oh the joys of being the "planner".
