Yesterday we had four riders in my moto, Jamie, Brandon, myself and Cassandra, a teenage girl from BC who is in Ottawa for the summer. However, once again, no pictures or video. Kate will be coming next week, and I am looking at how feasible it may be to get a low cost helmet cam to help fill in the gaps.
The first heat was close and a great race to be in. It was a great battle right from the start, through turns 1 and 2, down the back straight and going into turn 3 it was Jamie, Brandon and myself neck and neck. I was forced to go up high entering the corner, I made an attempt to cut down low and in the inside to keep my speed, but both Jamie and Brandon were able to keep the middle lines (there is no room for 3 people to do that), so they were able to pull ahead slightly. It made for a great race down into the final corner and down the final straight with Brandon qualifying for the main, Jamie in second, myself in third, and close behind was Cassandra.
The second heat was less impressive, Jamie was able to break away quickly and finished first to qualify for the main, I took second, and Cassandra took third.
The third heat is where I qualified for the main. I raced hard, did not look back and I knew if I made any sort of mistake I Cassandra behind me that would be in position to pass. I finished first.
The main was similar to the first heat with Jamie, Brandon and myself tight together through turns 1 and 2 and down the back straight, though we did have more room going into turn 3. Going down the straight into Turn 4, Jamie and Brandon made ground on me pulling away slightly, it was going to take a hard push through the final corner and the final stretch to have a chance at getting second, but I had lost too much track to them, resulting in a 3rd place finish.
