Anybody who grew up in the 80's most likely knows of the greatest BMX movie ever, "RAD", and the main character Cru Jones, and the greatest BMX track, "Hell Track". Here is a clip for all those who have no clue what I am talking about.
Anyhow, now on to how this relates in a foolish way to my blog and my racing. You see, my initials are KRW, my wife Kate randomly started to call me "KREW" shortly after this race season started, but she had no idea about RAD, Cru Jones, or Hell Track. So I explained that too her.
At the track our announcer Terry likes to give riders nicknames, so when I was registering for a race some time ago he said he needed one for me, I then piped up that Kate calls me "KREW", and I joked that my sponsor should be "RAD Racing" as such in the movie RAD. Terry seemed to like this idea and has run with it for registration purposes and for his announcing. So now on our moto sheets there is "Krew Jones" Woodward sponsored by "RAD Racing", and he announces this when I am racing as well.
I get a kick out of it, as do a few of the older guys who can link it all back to the 80's. It's all in good fun for me, but now I am tempted to roll with it and get the original "RAD Racing" logo screen printed on the back of my jersey.
What are your thoughts?
