Weather in Ottawa the past week or so has been miserable with rain and thunderstorms on a daily basis, and yesterday was no different with rain throughout the day.
I arrived at the track shortly after 4:30 and it was absolutely pouring. Marty and I took cover in his trailer in hopes it would blow over, which it did just shortly after 5:00 or so. The big question was the condition of the track, there were muddy spots, but overall the track was in race condition after a ton of work. Thankfully after the efforts to fix the mud spots the rain held off for the remaining of the evening.
I failed to qualify for the main last night, it was just one of those nights where nothing came together.
I did choose to stick around and watch the mains, and there was some great racing. The four riders were neck and neck throughout the entire race, it literally came down to the final stretch to see who would finish where. Now that is what racing is all about!
Just as things ended, the clouds opened up and the rain started to come down.
