As the title states, I do not have pictures for yesterdays races as Kate had to work late and then choose to stay home for the remainder of the evening.
Despite the rain we have had in the Ottawa area for the last three days as well as for much of the morning on Tuesday, the track was in relatively good shape which allowed us to proceed with our regularly scheduled race. Along with that, the turnout we had was also impressive considering the weather.
The moto I was place in was a tad strange. There was Jamie and myself along with Vincent who is young but typically gets bumped up with "us old guys" as there are not many riders his age to compete against at his skill. Along with that the software used mixed the three of us in with 13 year old intermediates, who are surprisingly fast!
Once again I required to run in all three heats to advance to the main, but I did it by finishing second in the last chance qualifier.
All night I was having issues getting my balance on the gate, no matter what I did I could not get the bike balanced. On top of that I just felt overall tired, my body just did not want to put out the energy that I was asking it to do so, it probably did not help that I had Burger King for dinner moments before and did not have water or other fluids available.
During the main I had a terrible start, but was still with everybody else, we entered into the first and I had a sudden cramp/pain on the right side of my body. I tried to push through it but it was just too much, so I just hung back and took the sixth place finish. Once could say, using a typical hockey term "I mailed it in".
I am not sure what happened, I wanted to race but my body was saying no. There was just nothing in the tank it seemed.
I also think I need to look into altering the gearing of my bike. I am finding that it is too easy for me to each a speed in which my feet can not keep up with on the crank, which then means that pedaling does nothing until the bike slows down just enough to finally catch and get the power from me pedaling before it happened again.

I've been baking for the Mister all week: loaves of bread, cookies, cake.
Yesterday, I decided my pups needed a homemade treat too, so I baked them

That really sucks about your pain. Hopefully next time you'll do better. :)
